life is beautiful.

as usual, life took over and the blog got the boot. today, as i sit and type this in the busy little life that i often complain about, i feel sad. sad because two fellow bloggers have very sick infants. while i may have struggles, be sleep deprived, and have entirely too much reading to do at any given moment, at least i have my health.

my thoughts are with stellan

a dirty shame.

Sorry about the blogging delinquency; I deserve to be disciplined for the lack of updates that no one reads anyway...

This has been a busy month filled with arduous classes, nightmare group projects, and frustrating situations. However, I will emerge on the other side of this as a very different 'me'.

Since I don't feel like elaborating on that, I will proceed with a new addition to the wall of shame.

WALL OF SHAME

"Do you like Hannah Montana?"
"No, she sings like she has bacon in her mouth."
Wisdom from my baby brother.

I probably won't post until finals are done. Until then, I bid you adieu.

inappropriate, party of one.

Outside of Target.

"Looks like the low prices got to somebody."

Matt becomes more and more like me every day. I am so proud.

labyrinth.

Yeah, I'm still here. A little frazzled, but here nonetheless. I have had 2 really long and stressful weeks and haven't had much time to think, much less write. School is fine and that's all I'm going to say about that thankyouverymuch.

Matt and I are going to see Stanford play basketball on Sunday. I can't seem to remember for the life of me who they are playing but I'm sure it will be fun. Matt is a huge Stanford fan, always has been really; It's kind of funny that we ended up where we did.

February birthday post is forthcoming when I can muster up the strength to go through my photo albums again.

Hope everyone is well.

tuesday.

I blogged a while ago about a little girl named Tuesday. Her parents have received news that her cancer is no longer "chemo sensitive". Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. Something like this should never happen to a child.

no, not me.

As you all know by now, Mckmama has been hosting Not me! Monday! I absolutely love taking part and so should you. Check out her blog at http://mycharmingkids.blogspot.com

Is it Monday again? Where does the time go? I bet you’ve all been wondering what I haven’t been doing this last week.

Well, for starters, I have not considered doing serious bodily injury to my upstairs neighbor. He might be loud but that is no reason to plot his death. I don’t care what anyone says, I did not yell loudly on Saturday morning when he was clomping around like a bison. That would be rude. Further more, I did not bang on the ceiling with a broom handle, ala Mr. Heckles from Friends. That would be immature, and I am the picture of maturity.

In case you were wondering (and I know you were), I did not cry at last weeks episode of The Biggest Loser. That would make me a loser, which I am not.

I also did not scream like a mad woman when listening to the inauguration in my car. There is no reason to scream like a lunatic, even if you feel like your country is making progress. That would only take back said progress. Taunting a particularly obnoxious McCain fan via Facebook was also something I did not do this week.

Moving on to potentially more embarrassing stuff…last week was my first Not Me Monday post. I definitely did not become overjoyed when someone I do not know commented on my blog. That would be superficial of me. I don’t do this for fame or rewards; I do this for my family. I did not almost cry when I told Matt I had a comment. He looked at me like I was insane, which I am also not.

So………what didn’t you do last week? You can tell me, I won’t judge. For realsies.

quote of the day.

::While watching the inaugural ball::

J: "Michelle Obama really is the best looking first lady we've had in a while."
M: "She definitely has the best tan."

ZING!

Clearly, the boy has lived with me too long.

So proud to call Barack Obama my President :)

definitely, maybe.

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Not Me Monday!!

I have been reading Mckmama's blog for a while now and I always get a chuckle out of the things that she did not do last week. Not Me Monday is a time for all bloggers to confess to things that they did not do. I thought I'd give it a try.

Without futher adieu....
::trumpets sound::

I don't care what anyone says, it was not me who made pasta yesterday and accidently threw half of it in the sink when draining it. Further more, I did not promptly rinse the pasta off and eat it anyway. That would be disgusting.

While on the subject, there is absolutely no way that there are a stack of dishes rivaling the leaning tower of pisa in my kitchen waiting to be washed. That must be someone else's house, because it can't possibly be mine. I am fabulous housekeeper. Honest.

And by the way, it was definitely not me who bought delicious blueberry mini-scones from Mollie Stones yesterday and promptly ate four of them. And I definitely wouldn't be lying on my Not Me Monday post because the number was actually closer to five...or six. There is no way that was me! That would be piggish. And disgusting. In fact, I would judge the person who did that. Thank goodness that it wasn't me :)

So, come on! Fess up! What didn't you do last week?

father of the bride.

A belated birthday post to my dearest Dad who turned 21 again [50] on Wednesday. Love you, Dad.

Once upon a time, there was a cute little blonde kid who woke up WAY too early on Christmas day. Her Dad got up anyway...but needed a lot of coffee.

One year we went to Spain......and made Flamenco Eggs.... [a tradition continued to this day]

Then something horrible happened. 80's fashion. I looked like an Olsen twin and Dad looked like Dilbert.
See!!!
I grew up and went off to college...

...and 5 years later I graduated from UNCW with a Bachelor's [and Master's] degree in Psychology [read: useless. i'm still in school]

And then one day, the little [no longer blonde] girl grew up and he walked her down the aisle.

Happy Birthday Dad - I love you!

And Happy Birthday to all you other January folks!

Uncle Peter - January 1st
Auntie Col - January 10th

Richard - January 12th

and my BFF Miranda - January 24th

burn after reading.

I'm burned out already.....this is not a good sign. Only 1 week into the quarter and I'm counting down the days until break (March 20th, if you care). My classes are fine, for the most part, but the textbooks are particularly heinous this time around. It took me two days to read a 50+ page chapter on psychoanalysis because it kept putting me out. Forget sleep medication, read a psychotherapy textbook.

Is it Friday yet?

happy new year, charlie brown.

Happy 2009 to all!
Matt and I celebrated the New Year [and our anniversary] with a football game and a trip to Napa Valley.

On December 27th we rode the Caltrain up to the city and watched California Berkeley play Miami in the Emerald Bowl. Cal won 24 to 17. We are so fortunate to live such a short distance from San Francisco and to be able to watch the game on the Bay.

and really....who can see the bay bridge by driving 20 minutes from their house [we can!]

Isn't it pretty here??? Even on a foggy day...

We drove up to Napa on January 3rd to celebrate our 1-year anniversary (December 28th). It was absolutely beautiful and a lot of fun.

Here is the bed and breakfast that we stayed at:

I'll post more pictures later.

Goodnight :)
